If you've ever lusted for the blue-green waters of the Dean River in British Columbia, 2009 is your chance! Long the stuff of angler lore and legendary anadramous might, accessibility to the Dean has been restricted to a few priviliged anglers who come back year and again. With the 2009 economic situation being what it is, openings for weeks fishing the Dean's uber-powerful Kings, Steelhead and Silvers may be had.

Deneki Outdoors' BC West Lodge is a remote fly fishing lodge located on the lower Dean River - a legendary spot facing the Dean Channel, tucked in the shadow of Kimsquit Peak and within earshot of the Dean River canyon. Angler's visiting BC West will have the opportunity to fish both the lower Dean below the canyon, as well as the Dean above the falls. This river is a Valhalla to the swung-fly fisherman. On the lower river, anglers fish broad runs for chrome fish just out of the salt. This section of the river is continually replenished with fish as they begin their spawning journey. Anglers on the upper river will fish a more intimate river featuring classic holding runs and lies. Traditional tactics are exceptionally effective, including waking and greased line styles.

If you're interested in going to BC West or if you're just hunting for a Travel Special, please drop a line to our travel man, Jerry Swanson.

Spring Trout Fishing is upon us. Here are 6 flies you'll not want to head for the river without in the course of the next month. These flies have been tremendously effective on the Willamette, McKenzie, Lower Deschutes and Middle Deschutes of late. Give 'em a try!
