News, Announcements & Fishing Report!
August 7th, 2008

It's August...the dog days of summer...hottest month of the year. Yet the news is really pretty good, our late arriving summer and huge snowy winter are providing us with conditions we haven't seen in a long time. The rivers are still cold, high mountain lakes are in great shape, the trout are biting and above and beyond...summer steelhead are arriving in numbers we've not seen in years. Fasten up your seatbelts (gas is cheaper!) and let's take a spin around the Northwest to see what's happening. There might even be some fresh tuna in the forecast!

Last issue we sent forth with Part 1 of a our Washington's "Other" Trout Streams Primer. This month we're wrapping it up for you with Part 2. We hope you'll find a place from this article that helps you get away from it all. Of course if you're headed over to the Yakima to pound the banks...by all means, have a blast. Otherwise enjoy getting out and exploring some new water!

Two month's ago, Jakob laid out a Metro Steelhead Preview for you...this time around we're going to take a look at Oregon's North Fork of the Umpqua and Lower Deschutes Rivers. Click here to find out why we live in one of the greatest places to fish on earth.

We're fired up here at Kaufmann's to have an innovative product from William Joseph landing in our stores in just a few days. WJ's new MAG series bags are truly going to make a difference to any angler using a chest or fanny pack. No more zippers, smooth one-handed open and close. Jakob swears this is the coolest pack he's ever fished with.

William Joseph has been working on their ZipNo system for several years and it's finally here. Openings in these packs are lined with rare earth magnets and are sewn in. There are literally no hang-ups with these bags. Openings are impervious to corrosion, damage from debris and the closures are just about as watertight as they can be without $100 zippers getting involved. Don't get caught in the middle of the river fumbling ever again. Check out the new Mag ZipNo system here or just stop on by our shops.
