Anglers this month are in transition. The advance guard of winter steelhead have ventured into our waters and we wait with great anticipation for the bulk of the fish to come. A solid set of cold, clear days mark the last big trout days of the year. Getting a line in the water this month is good solace for the soul and a great way to close out the annual. Here's a short report for Oregon and Washington. Look for something a little more substantial later in the month.

| Our friend and lodge owner Sebastian Galilea from Chile, visited us in Oregon last month. Over some great food and wine we talked about how both lodges have expanded the waters they fish since our stay there 3 years ago. They now fish 20 rivers on 600,000+ private acres. 2010 is going to be a major year for the 2 ½ inch Cantaria Beetle! There's still space in the season which runs December to early April. For steelhead anglers, join Jerry Swanson, August 22nd - August 28th, for an incredible week at Z-Boat Lodge in British Columbia. You'll fish both the Copper and Skeena rivers, via raft and jet sled for the chromest of the Skeena system fish!
