News, Announcements & Fishing Report!
November 3rd, 2009

It's the calm before the storm now. Winter fish die-hards are checking their gear, making tips and tying flies in anticipation of sodden days searching for the Pacific Northwest's elusive and magical winter steelhead. Trout anglers are out casting to feasting fish before the first of winter's hard freezes. Salmon specialists target feisty chum and fall's kings. It's all a little more interesting than one might suspect. Delve into the report and see if you can't find something to suit your fancy.

Join Kaufmann Streamborn, Sierra Club and Native Fish Society for a fun-filled evening watching the premiere of "Where Hope Resides", a film from Jahtrout Films. "Where Hope Resides" examines the present state of the fishery on the Skeena River and the many questions it faces. From the perspective of First Nations, commercial, outfitter, environmental, and government interests, the film examines the socioeconomic impact of the declining fish stocks.

Presenting the Skeena River as, hopefully, an inspiration and a model of how rivers, fish, and people can co-exist. Directed by Jason Sutton, Produced by Boots Allen, Featuring Lani Waller, Bob Clay and many more. Click here to watch the trailer for the movie.

Where: Sierra Club Office 1821 SE Ankeny St Portland
When: Tuesday November 10th 6:30 pm followed by Q&A with Jason Sutton and Boots Allen
Cost: $10 at the door

It's getting to be the time of year when fly fishing travel starts to sprout out some pretty incredible deals. Click here to visit Jerry's Travel Specials page on our website and check back often for new opportunities. Three new opportunities just went up this morning!

There's always something new and interesting popping up in the world of the Two-Handed. Rio's brand spanking new Skagit Flight Head hit our stores 2 weeks ago and is grabbing interest. Like mono shooting lines, but seeking a slightly grippier alternative to Slickshooter? Try SA's Mono Shooting Line...nothing fancy, just good clean fun. Of course there's a couple rods we fell in love with over the summer too. Click here to read about Sage's TCX 7126-4 and Winston's 6126-4.

We've got several things in the works for the stores over the holiday season. Look for an email later in the month with full details. In the meantime, we're expecting Jack Ohman to be our guest in Seattle on the 5th of December and in Tigard on December 12th. Stop in and have your copy of Angler Management signed by one of the world's leading political cartoonists!
