Kaufmann Streamborn Northwest Fishing Report
October 14th, 2009

OREGON
Clackamas River - The Clack is full of silvers and the catch has been decent if not spectacular in relation to the #'s of fish. Steelheading is good; don't expect the battles you would have had in June however.

Sandy River - Its Silver season on the Sandy. If you're on the hunt for steelhead, bide your time for Turkey Day.

Coastal Waters - Lots of silvers out here and though a smaller run of Kings than usual, fishing has been decent depending on when and where. Be prepared with some magic dust for the silvers.

Deschutes - Trout fishing is great and your usual fall fare is perfect for right now. October Caddis are out. 2009 will go down as a banner year for steelhead fishing here. It's been nothing short of spectacular, expect it to continue.

McKenzie and Willamette - Fall trout fishing has been very good. There are still several weeks of good fishing going on. Steelhead fishing is tapering off here.

N. Fork Umpqua - Steelhead season took some time to get rolling here. It's been good of late however, though your skater time is just about over for the most part.

Southern OR - The Rogue has been very good.

Columbia Tribs - Without naming a lot of names (sensitive times) - all the usual suspects are worth casting upon. Fishing has been very very good all the way out to the Clearwater.

Stillwater - Just about last chance times here. Use leech patterns to find hungry fish boning up for winter.
WASHINGTON
Yakima River - Water is low and cool, fall is here, with BWO's and October Caddis to be prepared for.

Basin Lakes - Fishing very well, primarily by leech and bugger as the trout fatten up for winter.

Okanogan Lakes - Ditto

Puget Sound Lowland Lakes - Ditto

Desert Steelhead - The Wenatchee and Methow have been fishing very, very well by the swung wet, skated dry and nymphs. Look also to the Klick, the Ronde, Clearwater and Snake!

Coho - Still a couple promising weeks to go off the beaches, as things start to pick up in the rivers.
